QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor of Science Degree preferred.
2. Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate in Vocational Technical (VT).
3. Interim Occupational Certificate or 4,000 hours of paid and relevant workexperience (in the last six years) to qualify for Annual Vocational Authorization.
4. Must agree to maintain authorization through credit track maintenance.
5. Prior teaching experience in welding preferred.
6. Experience working with high school students preferred.
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Educationmay find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:  High School Principal

JOB GOAL:     To teach high school students welding skills required in accordance with the curriculum assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
3. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
4. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and evaluate their progress on a regular basis.
5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media,consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and theneeds of the individuals or student groups involved.
6. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requestedto do so under reasonable terms.
7. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic andbehavioral progress of all assigned students.
8. Regular and reliable attendance.

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

JOB GOAL:     To supervise students both in and outside of the building. To monitor student behavior and maintain a calm, orderly and safe atmosphere.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Help maintain an orderly lunch room and in-school suspension room.
2. Monitor for appropriate student interactions, and intervene whennecessary.
3. Monitor for safe behavior and intervene when necessary to stopactions that could result in an injury to a student.
4. Monitor to prevent bullying situations and intervene to stop actionsthat could escalate to conflict.
5. Enforce school rules.
6. Help maintain an orderly entrance to the building.
7. Informs any administrator immediately of any serious incident.
8. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentialityof information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
9. Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal.
10. Regular and reliable attendance

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:    Nine month work year. Salary and work to be determined by the Board of
                                             Education. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of
                                             Board’s policy of Evaluation of Support Service Personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Power body strength to stand and walk throughout the day.
2. Verbal stamina to articulate clearly and with appropriate volume throughout the day.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:        Regular exposure to weather extremes and occasional exposure to loud noises.​

EVALUATION:        Performance of this position will be evaluated as per Paraprofessional Aides work agreement.

4. Visionary leadership and a proven track record of leadership with abilities in planning, supervision, human relations and staff development.
5. Excellent communication skills, demonstrated characteristics of being approachable personable and accessible to staff and community. Ability to communicate to a wide variety of constituents.
6. Special Education and Title I program experience preferred.
